FAQ
Q: How does your faith influence your products?
A: Our company is guided by 1 John 1:9, which reminds us of forgiveness and grace. This shapes our dedication to creating products that are honest, intentional, and a blessing to those who use them—purely forgiven and naturally made.
Q: Why we use beef tallow in your soap?
A: Beef tallow is a natural, nourishing fat that creates a creamy, moisturizing lather, perfect for cleansing without stripping your skin. Sourced from pasture raised, grass-fed and grain-finished, antibiotic free, hormone free cattle; it aligns with our commitment to pure, wholesome ingredients.
Q: Is your soap suitable for sensitive skin?
A: Yes! Because it’s made from simple, natural ingredients like our grass-fed/grain finished beef tallow and crafted without harsh additives, our soap is gentle and nourishing, making it a great choice for sensitive skin types. However, we always recommend patch-testing first.
Q: How big is the each soap bar?
A: Each bar weighs approximately 4oz, hand-cut with care during our small-batch production process. Slight variations may occur due to its artisanal nature.
Q: What does "purely forgiven and naturally made" mean?
A: It’s our slogan! "Purely forgiven" reflects our faith-inspired roots; Jesus forgave us of our sins (and wants to forgive you of yours too!) While "naturally made" highlights our commitment to using clean, minimally processed ingredients straight from nature—like our home-rendered tallow, pure essential oils, pure honey and oats.
Q: How fast do you ship your product?
A: We strive to ship same day when possible and next day if order is received to late in the day for same day!
Q: How should I store my tallow soap bar?
A: To keep your bar in top condition, store it in a dry, well-ventilated area between uses. A soap dish with drainage is ideal to help it last longer. We sell some soap dishes but any with drainage will do!
Q: Do you accept returns?
A: Due to the handmade and personal nature of our products we do not except returns or offer refunds. All sales are final.
Q: What is tallow, and why is it used in skincare?
A: Tallow is a rendered fat, typically from beef or sheep, that’s been used for centuries in cooking, candles, and skincare. At Just Tallow, we use beef tallow from pasture raised grass-fed/grain finished cattle because it’s rich in vitamins like A, D, E, and K, and its fatty acid profile closely matches human skin, making it deeply nourishing and compatible for moisturizing and cleansing.
Q: Is tallow safe for all skin types?
A: Yes, tallow is naturally non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores) and gentle, making it suitable for most skin types, including dry, sensitive, or mature skin. Its nutrient-dense composition helps hydrate without irritation, though we always suggest a patch test for first-time users.
Q: What makes grass-fed/grain finished tallow different?
A: Grass-fed tallow comes from cattle raised on pasture, free from hormones and antibiotics. This results in a higher concentration of nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which offer anti-inflammatory and skin-healing benefits compared to tallow from grain-fed animals.
Q: How does tallow benefit my skin?
A: Tallow is a powerhouse of hydration, packed with fatty acids like stearic and oleic acid that lock in moisture and strengthen the skin barrier. It’s also rich in fat-soluble vitamins that promote healing, reduce inflammation, and support a healthy glow.
Q: Can tallow help with skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis?
A: Many people find tallow soothing for dry, irritated skin conditions because of its emollient properties and nutrient content. While it’s not a cure, its ability to hydrate and protect may ease discomfort—think of it as a natural balm from the pasture to you.
Q: Why doesn’t tallow feel greasy on the skin?
A: Tallow’s magic lies in its similarity to our skin’s natural sebum. Because it mimics what our body already produces, it absorbs easily, leaving skin soft and balanced rather than oily or sticky.
Q: What are the benefits of frankincense in skincare?
A: Frankincense, often called the "king of oils," has a rich history tied to biblical times. It’s known for its anti-inflammatory and astringent properties, helping to calm redness, tighten skin, and reduce the appearance of fine lines. Its warm, resinous scent also uplifts the spirit—perfect for a moment of peace.
Q: How does myrrh benefit the skin?
A: Myrrh, another biblical treasure, is prized for its healing and antiseptic qualities. It’s excellent for soothing chapped or cracked skin, supporting wound healing, and fighting signs of aging with its antioxidant power. Its earthy aroma complements tallow’s natural richness beautifully.
Q: What makes cedarwood essential oil special?
A: Cedarwood brings a grounding, woody scent reminiscent of ancient forests. It’s a natural astringent that can help balance oily skin, reduce acne, and promote a clear complexion. Plus, its calming properties make it a favorite for relaxation.
Q: What does cinnamon essential oil do for the skin?
A: Cinnamon oil brings warmth and spice, with antimicrobial properties that can help combat bacteria and purify the skin. It also boosts circulation, giving your complexion a healthy flush. Used sparingly (it’s potent!), it adds a cozy, invigorating twist to tallow-based products.
Q: Can essential oils enhance tallow’s benefits?
A: Yes! Combining tallow’s nourishing base with essential oils like frankincense, myrrh, or cedarwood creates a synergy—tallow delivers moisture and nutrients, while the oils add specific therapeutic benefits and delightful scents, all naturally made.
Q: How do you choose which essential oils to use?
A: We draw inspiration from scripture, selecting oils with both practical benefits and biblicalsignificance—like frankincense and myrrh, gifts fit for a king. Each oil is chosen to complement our tallow soaps and reflect our mission of purity and forgiveness.
